Ornamental Putting Courses
A putting course can be far more than an area of mown grass with some holes in it. Weller Designs have built challenging putting courses that appeal to all levels of ability and experience, with landscaping to make them attractive features even to the non-golfer.
Planting is a vital element in an ornamental putting course layout, and this is a key strength of Weller Designs. Our putting courses have proved to be popular features for guests at quality hotels such as Gidleigh Park in Devon, and Amberley Castle in Sussex. To fit harmoniously into the wider environment, landscaping on a full-length putting course is necessarily restricted in scope, but in contrast the garden environment of a hotel's grounds generally allows for greater choice of plants and materials.
Careful design and sympathetic planting can produce a layout to complement any surroundings, from the enclosed formal garden through to open parkland, but making the right choices requires experience of both landscape and golf architecture.
